I Am Goddess

Update 9/20/2018
After long and careful consideration, I realized I have been stuck on self imposed expectations of offering a monthly Goddess message. The Goddess offers her messages as She sees fit and leads me. As such, I am releasing this expectation of myself and letting my heart soar! Since July, I've traveled, met Sisters from different tribes and am actively forging new beginnings allowing my path to gracefully unfold before me. It is delicious!!!
Loving you,
Jessica Snake Maiden

I have been considering this project for quite some time waiting for the energies to shift and settle into a comfortable stream of consciousness. My intention is to bring monthly Goddess teachings, as I have received them, into modern, practical and meaningful ways by exploring who She is, what Her presence in our life offers and ritual suggestions. Much of what I share is personal experience, formal education, channeled information and ancient teachings I have received through shamanic journeying. References will be noted as appropriate.

I felt it best to leave selecting a Goddess to the Universal flow of energies, as such I will be intuitively drawing cards from one of the following oracle decks:

  • Goddesses and Sirens by Stacey Demarco Illustrated by Jimmy Manton

I Am Goddess: Coatlicue and Hathor

PictureThe Goddess Oracle by Amy Sophia Marashinsky Illustrated by Hrana Janto
It is pure magic Coatlicue (grief) and Hathor (pleasure) popped out together as they are both Goddesses of rebirth; representing the experience in extremes. Together the energies speak largely to me of the full bodied experience of living a human life, the cycles we experience and, at times, endure. For a woman, the expression of these two emotions is critical for the flow of energy to remain in motion. By visiting these emotions as they emerge, allows a woman the full surrender into the flow of the Universe. Without the expression of these emotions on a regular basis stagnation occurs and, in extreme cases, can lead to physical death.

Admittedly, the cognitive dissonance is fierce between the extremes of these Goddess teachings; offering us sacred portals providing insight into wounds, healings, Self expression and balanced energy.

Coatlicue
Coatlicue (name meaning serpant skirt) was regarded as an Earth goddess to the Aztecs. She is the deity who gave birth to the moon, stars and Huitzilopochtli, god of the sun and war. She comes to teach us the gift of nonattachment, of knowing that for every death there is a rebirth and lessons to be learned between. It is the journey that is filled with riches and Coatlicue walks with us fearlessly as we review our loss, visit our shadow side -- learn to forgive and love again -- for she knows in order for us to grow we must go through the painful process of letting go. It is blinding, painful, relieving and swallows one whole.

Hathor
Hathor is one of the most beloved Egyptian goddess who is considered the primeval goddess from which all others are derived. She brings us the sweet pleasurable gift of the Earth, connecting us to the elements and all that we are able to enjoy in this human form: sleep, food, sex, our sense of smell, touch, hearing, etc. All of which we may experience detachment from during periods of excessive grief and depression. Hathor asks us to open to whatever it is that brings us pleasure in a wiser and healthier way than cycles before.

Poetry Ramblings

Weep when you must.
Cry out in anger if it feels right.
Blame another -
For a moment.

Then, breathe.
Breathe and let go.
Let go to remember.
There is life to be lived.

Swallowed in pleasure.
Pleasure. Divine pleasure.
Walk me to the edge.
Watch as I surrender.

Goddess Teachings

This is an abbreviated version of a teaching and healing I offer in my Sacred Yoni Chamber workshop, as these are two emotions we vocally explore and express.

Start by creating a sacred space, dedicating 20 - 40 minutes to Self care by turning off your cell phone, computer monitor, or other distracting elements, including, my favorite disruptor: pets. I find a light yoga or stretching session helps align my physical body and mind to better prepare for emotional restoration. Soft lighting, ambient music, sacred objects, gemstones, a candle or incense burning really helps me create conscious awareness and attention to the space I have created and am entering. Ensure you have a comfortable seat and area to sit or lay on and you may want to consider having tissue and a blanket nearby, oil or lubrication, a handheld mirror, Yoni egg or intimate toys. Please have your journal and pen to the side to record any messages or feelings that may emerge.

After spending some quiet time to center your mind, move your attention to wherever you may be holding grief in the body. It may feel like a heavy weight in the chest or over the shoulders, a painful side ache or even be felt as tension in the foot. Wherever you feel the sensation, wrap it in pink or white light giving it all it needs to express itself while dropping into the emotional center of this feeling. Be with this for for the time in which it feels most comfortable. Here you are comforted and safely held to allow the emotion to emerge and unveil itself. When it feels right, let it out. Weep. Wail. Purge. Whatever it is in the center of this grief - let it out and let go. Know in your heart, you are letting go of whatever it is that is conscious and may be unconscious to you.

When you have shed your last tear, visit with your second chakra. Draw your bellybutton back to the spine to create a physical sensation and awareness to the second chakra area, located just under the belly button. Hold this awareness and imagine this creative pleasurable center as a full orb of orange light seated in your pelvis. It longs to cocreate new life and memories with you. It asks, are you ready, Goddess, to plant these seeds of wisdom?

Begin to pulse the energy by contracting and releasing the bellybutton moving this pulsing energy into the womb as a gentle flowing river current through the sacred chamber moving the energy and essence into the Yoni. Allow your awareness to move into a state bliss as your conscious understanding of your own Goddess essence grows.

Continue the pulsing action bringing it deeper into the body and to the Yoni by drawing the bellybutton into the backbone on the inbreath while pulsing the pelvic floor muscles to help activate the area into erotic awareness. On the outbreath, release the muscles and open the throat chakra in raw emotion. Try not to shy away from this opening and sweet surrender. On the out breath begin releasing ahs, ohs, ahas and ohas while pulsing into your erotic pleasure. Should orgasm naturally arise, do a
llow the waves of grief to pass like waves through the ethereal body while allowing pleasure to overtake the senses, rocking the pelvis if it feels natural, while opening the five senses until you come to a natural rest. You may choose to use kegel exercises while holding a Yoni egg during this exercise. I find rose quartz works best for this practice in managing the octaves between grief and pleasure.

To assist in opening the throat chakra practice:
  • Lion's breath pose in Yoga
  • neck rolls
  • sing through the scales to be more open and free with expressing a variety of tones ranging between silly and serious, growl the scales and whisper feeling the difference between constriction and freedom
Always use your highest wisdom when considering these recommendations.
